Keith has been a professional teacher for more than 45 years, in a multitude of contexts. Keith has taught at the University of Saskatchewan for nearly 30 years. Over the last few years, Professor Walker has taught numerous courses at the University of Saskatchewan as well as teaching at other universities. Most of his teaching work has been at the graduate level but he thoroughly enjoys teacher undergraduate students. Dr. Walker is a huge fan of the University of Saskatchewan’s Learning Charter. In 2017, Professor Walker was honoured with the Provost’s College Award for Outstanding Teaching (Education).
At the University, teaching is understood to encompass: course development, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and graduate student advisement (supervision). The ongoing relationships with research-based students at masters-level (projects and theses) and doctoral-level (dissertations) has been extremely fulfilling to Keith. He serves on dozens of committees for students in his own Department and across campus (Medicine, Nursing, Environment and Sustainability, Psychology, Kinesiology are examples of current doctoral committees outside Education).
One of the exciting efforts that Professor Walker and colleagues have worked on for the last few years is a professional graduate-level doctorate (Doctor of Education – Ed.D. Degree). With Department members, Keith chaired the Committee that sought and gained approval for this program in early 2019.
